Jacques Attali, President PlaNet Finance, France – Founder and First President of EBRD, London

Jacques Attali is President of A&A, an international consulting company based in Paris, President of PlaNet Finance and President of the Supervisory Board of Microcred. Professor, writer and Special Advisor to the President of the French Republic from 1981-1991, he founded and was the first President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) in London from 1991-1993, He created the NGO Action Internationale Contre la Faim and the major European program “Eurêka” on new technologies in 1984. He launched in 1989 a program of action for the disastrous floods of Bangladesh. He wrote 40 books, essays, novels and theatre plays, translated in twenty languages. Jacques Attali is a Doctor in Economic Sciences. He is graduated from the École Polytechnique, the École des Mines, the Institut d'Études Politiques ( Institute for Political Studies) and from the prestigious École Nationale d''Administration. He taught economics at the École Polytechnique, École des Ponts et Chaussées and the University of Paris-Dauphine.

 

Professor Muhammad Yunus, Founder and Managing Director Grameen Bank

As founder of the Grameen Movement, Professor , Muhammad Yunus is a revolutionary. His ideas couple capitalism with social responsibility that have changed the face of rural economic and social development forever in Bangladesh and all over the globe. He pioneered the idea of Gram Sarker (village government) and was the first to conceive empowerment of the poor especially women through micro credit that has changed the way those in the development and finance communities think about both banking and poverty alleviation.. A Fulbright Scholar at Vanderbilt University, Professor Yunus received his Ph.D. in Economics from Middle Tennessee State University

 

Maria Flordelis F. Aguenza, President and Chief Operating Officer Planters Development Bank

Maria Flordelis F. Aguenza is President and Chief Operating Officer, of Planters Development Bank, the largest private development bank in the Philippines. She is concurrently the Vice Chair of Planters Development Bank affiliates; and member of the Board of Directors of SME.com.ph, and PDB-FMO Development Center. She also serves as a member of the Board of Directors of ShoreCap Exchange International, Chamber of Thrift Banks of the Philippines; and as a member of the Board of Trustees of University of the Philippines Foundation. Mrs. Aguenza completed her post graduate studies in Economics from the Ateneo de Manila University.

Dr Salehuddin Ahmed, Governor , Bangladesh Bank

Dr Salehuddin Ahmed is the Governor of the Central Bank of Bangladesh and was previously the Managing Director of PKSF.

Dr. Fakhruddin Ahmed, Managing Director, PKSF

Former Governor of Bangladesh Bank Dr. Fakhruddin Ahmed has joined PKSF as the Managing Director on June 1, 2005. Dr. Fakhruddin Ahmed held senior positions in the World Bank from 1978 to 2001 before joining Bangladesh Bank as its Governor. He started his career as lecturer in the Economics Department of Dhaka University. Later he joined the Civil Service of Pakistan and served the government in various capacities until 1978. Dr. Fakhruddin Ahmed stood first class first in both BA (Hons) and MA in Economics at Dhaka University in 1960 and 1961 respectively. He is holding a Master's Degree in Development Economics from Williams College, USA and Doctor of Philosophy in Economics from Princeton University.

 

Robert A. Annibale, Global Director Citigroup Microfinance New York, USA

Robert Annibale is Citigroup's Global Director of Microfinance. He leads Citigroup's commercial relationships with microfinance institutions, on a multi-business and multi-product basis, providing financing and product partnerships to institutions that serve the poor and the unbanked. He joined Citibank in 1982 and he has held a number of senior treasury, risk and corporate positions in Citigroup in Athens, Bahrain, Kenya, London and New York. Bob represents Citigroup on the Board of the Microfinance Information Exchange, the Council of Microfinance Equity Funds and the Microfinance Network. Bob completed his Masters Degree in African Studies (History) at the University of London, School of Oriental and African Studies.

 

Zarine Aziz, President First Women Bank of Pakistan Ltd.

Zarine Aziz is a banker and a mission driven leader for the socio-economic development of women of Pakistan. Ms. Aziz started her career in 1979, as Officer in United Bank Limited (UBL) and set a new precedence by becoming the ‘First Lady Manager'. At UBL, she had the honour of being the first lady banker raised to Assistant Vice President Cadre. In 1989, after 10 years experience in banking industry she became the founding member of ‘First Women Bank Ltd' (FWBL). Ms. Aziz holds a Masters in Public Administration from the University of Punjab, Pakistan.

Sanjiv Bhasin, CEO and MD of the Rabo India

Sanjiv Bhasin has been appointed as the CEO and MD of the Rabo India Finance in 2004. Bhasin has been with the HSBC for over 24 years in the various departments of corporate finance, investment banking, risk management and financial control.

Maneesha Chadha, Micro Finance Manager ABN Amro Bank

Maneesha Chadha joined ABN Amro Bank in 2005 focusing primarily on micro finance credit and other non-credit related activities. She had previously worked as a Senior Associate for Intellecap Advisory Services, India, undertaking consultancy for projects of Grameen Foundation USA. She has also consulted on financial management training , credit rating, research and advisory services for the South Asian region as representative of Micro Credit Rating International (M-CRIL), India and EDA Rural Systems. She Holds a Graduate MSc. Degree in Development Finance and Post grad in Forestry Management.

Gilles Galludec, Program Manager Financial Markets, IFC – SEDF

Prior to joining IFC in 2004, Gilles was with the European Investment Bank managing the EIB portfolio of investments for Central Africa and the Great Lakes. He has 20 years of experience in the banking sector. He served in various senior positions in Africa before joining CGAP-World Bank, Washington, D.C., in 1996. In 1998, he was a Managing Director of FINADEV Benin and Development Manager of Financial Bank Group West and Central Africa. He was the first Secretary General of PlaNet Finance and created a number of instruments among which GIRAFE Rating used in 35 countries.

 

Syed Hashemi, Senior Microfinance Specialist CGAP Washington

Dr. Hashemi developed the CGAP poverty audit for financial institutions and has worked on assessing poverty levels of microfinance clients. Before joining CGAP, Dr. Hashemi directed the Program for Research on Poverty Alleviation at the Grameen Trust from 1994-99. He also taught development studies at Jahangirnagar University in Bangladesh for 12 years, where he conducted research on microfinance, NGOs, and gender subordination in rural Bangladesh.

 

Rahim Inoussa, Consultant PA Consulting Financial Services Practice New York USA

Rahim Inoussa is a Consultant at PA's Financial Services Practice based in New York. Rahim is a specialist in SME banking. He is currently PA's project manager of the Banking survey of the SME market in Bangladesh implemented by SEDF. Prior to PA Rahim worked for GE Capital where he designed improvements in credit procedures, authorities, organisation, and tools. He also taught banking, capital market structure and risk management at University of Montreal. Rahim is a CFA charterholder and received a Master in Finance from University of Montreal.

Ali Samad-Khan is President of OpRisk Advisory LLC, a leading operational risk management consulting firm. He has extensive experience in operational risk management and is widely regarded as an industry thought-leader. Ali has assisted more than twenty of the world's leading organizations establish their operational risk management programs. Key elements of his operational risk management framework and methodology have been adopted by numerous leading financial institutions worldwide and have also been incorporated into the Basle II standards Ali has previously worked at the World Bank, the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, Bankers Trust and PricewaterhouseCoopers.

Anis A. Khan, CEO and Managing Director Industrial Development and Leasing Cy of Bangladesh.

Anis A. Khan is the CEO and Managing Director of IDLC of Bangladesh Ltd, the country's largest multi-product non-banking financial institution. Mr. Khan is a career banker having worked with ANZ Grindlays Bank and Standard Chartered Bank (SCB), both in Bangladesh and abroad. Mr. Khan serves as a Director of Eastern Bank Limited, Credit Rating Agency of Bangladesh Limited and the Chittagong Stock Exchange. He is also the Vice Chairman of the Bangladesh Leasing & Finance Companies Association.

Roopa Kudva, Executive Director and Chief Credit Rating Officer CRISIL India

Mrs. Roopa Kudva joined CRISIL in 1992 and currently heads the rating business. She had previously worked for 6 years at Industrial Development Bank of India in the Project Finance Department. She has also worked in emerging markets in the Mediterranean and Middle East countries during her term at Standard & Poor's, Paris, as Director, Financial Institutions Ratings. She holds a graduate degree in Statistics and a Post Graduate Diploma in Management from the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad.

 

Bodo Lieberam, CEO MicroCred Mexico S.A

Bodo Lieberam is an expert in commercial microfinance, having worked as CEO of NovoBanco SARL, Mozambique and of Micro Enterprise Bank Inc. in Davao City, Philippines. Previously he was also consultant at Internationale for Projekt Consult GmbH and worked for the establishment of a new micro finance bank in Macedonia Currently he is assigned to be the CEO MicroCred Mexico S.A., a new microfinance greenfield institution that is being established in Veracruz, Mexico. Mr. Lieberam has a diploma in business administration from Justus-Liebig-Universität in Giessen, Germany and a bachelor degree from Institut Universitaire de Technologie Nice, France.

Rajesh Mirchandani, CEO Dun and Bradstreet SAME Ltd.

Rajesh Mirchandani, is the CEO of Dun and Bradstreet SAME Ltd and is responsible for South Asia and the Middle East operations. He graduated in economics from Madras Christian College and completed his PGDM from the Indian Institute of Management. Prior to his tenure with Dun and Bradstreet he was Managing Director of Meridian VAT Reclaim. He serves on the Board of several companies in India and abroad.

 

Xilong Pan, Associate Professor China Finance Research Institute, SWUFE

Xilong Pan is an Associate Professor of China Finance Research Institute, South Western University of Finance and Economics (SWUFE) that he joined in 1996 after completing his Ph. D in agricultural economics and administration. Professor Pan was as an Executive Assistant for the Committee of Communist Party of China (CPC) for the city of Chengdu in 1999. He also joined China Merchant Bank as a counselor before teaching at Washington State University as a visiting scholar. Professor Pan holds MBA in finance and accounting from California State University, USA.

Peter Stockman, Partner, Financial Services, PA Consulting Group, New York

Peter is a Partner in PA Consulting Group's Financial Services practice where he leads the capital market group in North America. For the past 20 years, he has worked in North America and Europe with wholesale banks, asset managers, custodians and clearinghouses to improve operational performance. For financial service outsourcing providers he has developed new products, identified new markets and researched customer feature preferences. Prior to joining PA Consulting Group, Peter was a Partner with Accenture in that firm's Global Capital Markets and Global Energy practices. Peter holds a BA degree from Reed College in Portland, Oregon and an MBA degree from the University of Chicago.

Nihal Welikala, CEO National Development Bank – NDB Bank Sri Lanka

Mr. Nihal Welikala assumed duties as the CEO/General Manager of National Development Bank on 1st January 2002. He is also a Director of several of the NDB Group companies. He worked for several years at the London offices of Ernst & Young, and previously was CEO of Citibank NA Colombo. He is a Bachelor of Laws of University of Sri Lanka, a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants (England & Wales), and an Associate Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka.
