Business Enabling Environment>> Investment Climate Assessments

Investment Climate Assessments

SEDF is continuing and expanding its work on Investment Climate Assessments, with a focus on analytical and diagnostic work.  ICA work analyzes the investment climates and elements of the business environments in the various existing SEDF target economies of Bangladesh, Nepal, Bhutan and North-East India.  Under this component the BEE undertakes various surveys and reviews which are intended to inform the design of subsequent projects and interventions by SEDF and others.  While drawing heavily on the institutional capacity of IFC in designing investment climate analyses, BEE is carrying out an ongoing panel survey of SMEs in Bangladesh as well as a review of barriers to new investment. ICA survey and analyses inform subsequent project designs throughout SEDF's program areas.  In particular, ICA projects will coordinate with the work of the regional office of the World Bank Group's Foreign Investment Advisory Service, also based in Dhaka.
