Information Technology

There are more than 200 home grown small and medium sized software companies in Bangladesh serving both domestic and markets of 25 other countries, including the USA and Germany employing more than 10,000 people. With the objective of improving the performance of domestic sectors using IT and increasing the export of IT solutions and services, SEDF has engaged in building key competencies of the IT sector.

SEDF has been working with BASIS for increasing awareness and advocating key issues by organizing seminars, focused group discussions and tradeshows. Software companies are being assisted to provide higher quality solutions and services making domestic sectors more competitive. SEDF has been demonstrating the model of achieving international software process maturity certificate (e.g., SW-CMMI) for expediting the growth of export business. This demonstration will be followed by the development of service providers for scaling up the industry wide capacity building. SEDF is in a process, leveraging the learning from company level intervention, to develop a service provider for facilitating the growth of highly promising 2D animation sector in Bangladesh.
