Sector Development and Business Services >> Agri Business

Agri Business

The Agribusiness sector addresses the issue of market imperfection for the selected sub-sectors by identifying and working with service providers who are currently offering or have potential to offer commercial services to SMEs.

SEDF also intervenes directly by taking up one or two projects if there are no current service providers but there is a perceived demand. SEDF's role is to assist service providers in developing their products and services by providing technical assistance in their product and market development.

The overarching objective of the Agribusiness sector is to contribute to the reduction of poverty in Bangladesh, Bhutan, Nepal and North East India (BBNNI). The strategy for doing so is to increase competitiveness, performance, and growth of the SME sector, which is expected to contribute to the growth and improvement in economic and social conditions of agribusiness SMEs.
